Attached are photographs of the golf trophy.
I had Colman Myers son around to read the article in ORAFS about his dad. I then showed him the shield and he remembers it being played for and also knew all the people who were winners of this shield. Bobby Myers has been a member of the Bulawayo Golf club for 50 odd years. The first winners were R McLennan and R Salmon in 1968. McLennan was in partnership with Les Owens in Stevenson Plumbers. C MacFarlan, a joint winner in 1971, and M. Harris a joint winner in 1972, these names appear on the second shield, were at various times Captains of the golf club. On the third shield is the name of joint winner B. Bell, whom I also knew, and had played golf with owned the Brian Bell Estate Agency. This shield was only played for 5 times in 1968, 1971, 1972, 1973 and 1974. 71, 72, 73 and 74 winners were engraved on the second and third shields. This does not come out too clearly in the photo. I trust this attached photo will bring some reaction from members who can give us some history of this shield: i.e. The type of competition, How big were the fields, Why it was not played for in 1969 and 70, etc.
