Members of the Redcliff Flight of 102 (VR) Squadron, plus several guests were pictured at the official opening of their Mess earlier this year.
The Flight\'s Headquarters is now firmly established in a house on Ridgeway, above the works, the house being donated to the Flight by Risco\'s General Manager, Mr. Tom Harris. Months of hard work by members of the Flight, led by the indefatigable Ray Streeter and Pete Matthysen, under the direction of the Flight Commander, Fred Hudson, transformed the house into a first class base.
The opening ceremony was performed by the OC VR, Group Captain Ozzie Penton, who in a short speech, congratulated the Flight on their initiative and success, and thanked them for their contribution to the war effort. After replying suitably ,Fit Lt Hudson, presented him with a typical Risco memento, a steel splash.
Other guests at the opening were Group Captain Pink, Sqn Ldr Cooke, Sqn Leader Wall and Risco\'s GM as well as contingents representing the Army and Police.
Wives of Flight members catered magnificently for the appetites of all present, and with liquid refreshment flowing equally freely, Redcliff Flight\'s new HQ was welland truly launched.
