As a member of the British Legion - Limerick I was invited to attend a parade organised by the Irish Veterans Organisation.
The Parade included a Wreath Laying Ceremony and was for all Irishmen who had died in conflicts around the world no matter who they had served with.
My thoughts were with all those Irish, or of Irish descent, who had served Rhodesia in the Second World War, Malaya and the Rhodesian conflict.
fter the wreath laying and march past all adjourned for mass in the nearby Church where all the Standards were Paraded in front of the altar as the Last Post was played. Very moving.
I could not help but also think of Drummer Lee Rigby who had been so savagely killed during the week!
Afterwards we all invited to a nearby hotel for well deserved refreshments.
